windows live messenger is not working on Vista.?

After opening it I get the message "Windows Live Messanger has stoped workong please wait while we check for the problem" after this I get another message saying,"Windows live messanger has stoped working A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly windows will close the program and notify you when a solution is avaiable" or something very close to that. it does it every time i click on it to open it. Ive tried restarting, any ideas? Thanks for your answers.
