i have an hp slimline computer and the above message popped up saying that the file was either corrupted or missing and that i should insert the xp startup disk and press r to repair. only problem is i dont really know where the disk is and i really need to get this computer up and running like tomorrow. any suggestions?

easiest thing to do is insert your xp disk an click repair , this will keep everything on your computer , and restore files such as this crucial startup file
