First, Windows XP SP3 took out my internet access. (Comcast cable, if it makes a difference.) I did a System Restore to get rid of it, and shazam, back online. Last night, my wife lost internet access; she allows Windows to d/l & install updates automatically. I'd heard some friends of mine online complaining about a security update that got pushed live on 7/9/08 that killed their web access. Lo and behold, once I uninstalled that security update, I was back online. What the hell is going on here? Is there some sort of issue with my PCs? How can 2 major updates, both official, both for Windows XP, be effing up Internet access? It can't be just my household, can it? What can I fix/change? I don't want my PCs unpatched…what can I do? (And please, don't suggest Linux or Mac or any other damn thing. Other than this, I'm perfectly content with Windows.)
