I have a Sony VAIO FW11E with 3GB RAM
I have managed to bring down the amount of RAM usage to about 960MB just after booting up, with 72 processes.
Including all the necessary security software i.e. firewall, antivirus, antimalware etc. running.
I have also kept the visual themes - only disabling the transparency and some transitions.
Has anyone managed a lower RAM usage and/or less processes running at bootup/login?
Note: I prefer XP to Vista. Very experienced XP user ![]()

Microsoft reckon that it can be fully booted with 512MB although I cannot get anything near that, or yours
