something is wrong with my windows vista the desktop only shows the background but the icons dont show and when i right click that doesnt work so i always hav to use the task manager is there anyway i can like restore everything back to normal?? plz answer asap

TRY THIS,
ON DESKTOP MAIN SCREEN
PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL
IN THE TASK MANAGER
CLICK NEW TASK
IN THE NEW WINDOW
Type explorer.exe
press ok

ALTERNATIVELY
PRESS CTRL+ALT+DEL
IN WINDOWS EXPLORER
CLICK NEW TASK
Type c:\windows\system32\restore\rstrui.exe
press ok

PROCEED WITH SYSTEM RESTORE.
SELECT DATE, PRIOR TO DATE, WHEN YOUR COMPUTER SYSTEM WAS FUNCTIONING NORMALLY.

IF, THIS DOES NOT HELP, PROCEED WITH FRESH INSTALLATION OF WINDOWS.SOFTWARE.

HOPE IT HELPS.
