I have DELL Inspiron E1505 laptop which came along with Windows Vista Restore DVD. Due to a Virus attack I want to format and re-install Vista, but my DVD is not working. I have done this type of re-installation once before and that time it worked. Now it gives an error that not able to read a file from DVD so re-installation is aborted. I called DELL and they are not ready to supply with another copy of the re-installation DVD.
1.) Are we entitled to get the copy of the Licensed OS that we buy with the Laptop?
2.) I have seen that in D: Drive i have a file Dell/Image/Windows.vim which has a size of 3.16 GB. Is this file any useful for re-installation ?
3.) What are the other option I can have to get my Laptop formatted and working

the restore cd includes an image of windows vista plus utilities to restore Dell installed software, the d partition is used for customized restore images that do not use the DVD. if the DVD is not visibly damaged, go into bios, usually by pressing F2, check your boot order, the first device should be the dvd drive followed by the harddrive, if you have any other configuratins change to the dvd drive as first boot device. once done, save changes and restart with the disc in the drive, the restore program should start.
