I turned of automatic updates on my laptop because Windows is so stupid that it updates my sound card driver with a new one that doesn't work. So to prevent this I turned off automatic updates. Now, every five seconds the security center hounds me from the system tray saying that my computer might me at risk. Is there anyway to turn this message off?
I have Windows XP Professional.

check your settings, you could use system restore, call Microsoft,be firm but polite. they will tell your options , but you really need your auto updates turned on. using the xp format this should be no problem. maybe the problem is with the motherboard. they can update a driver but the sound card is part of the mother board, so you may need to replace it.CALL MICROSOFT !

I do not believe you are using windows updates corectly because drivers usually come under optional updates that you do not have to install.
