Windows XP home user, service pack 3?

I have a SP2 and got SP3 from the windows update site, no problems to download it, no problems to install it, but after the instalation proces is done and it asks to reboot, it closes windows and starts rebooting - the sistem cant get upp and the computer is keeping up rebooting constantly ….
HELP…

      reboot in safe mode then uninstall SP3

      Yes it very weird, my fiance had the same problem, and I found a while ago when he download it we were doing some searching and we read that you are suppose to uninstall internet explorer 7 first and download sp3 and then download the internet explorer 7 again. I don’t really know why, I wish I had the website for you but had to restore my computer and lost the website, hope everything works out for you.and good luck.

      boot in safe mode and make a system restore or unistall it

      This is a problem that occurred with the release of SP3 in May of this year. I posted a solution below that fixes the problem and allows you to keep SP3. The problem isn't actually Microsoft's fault by the way, as you'll see in the link
