I REALLY messed up my computer the other day and now…it's broken and I'm afraid its beyond repair. I formatted the HDD and tried to install Vista on it. It gave me an error message that some file was missing or corrupt and I had to abort. Well after not being able to fix that problem I reformatted the HDD again and installed XP media center edition. After it installed I restarted the computer and I got the message saying NTOSKRNL.EXE is missing or corrupt. Press Ctrl Alt Del to restart. I tried to repair boot.ini files and all that jazz based on the tons of forums I read and nothihng worked. So I installed Home edition about 10 minutes ago. And I restarted the comp after installation and oh how nice, theres another error! It says a disk error occurred. pres ctrl alt del to restart. So now im stuck. Ive lost crap loads of important documents and I have no OS on my laptop. HELP PLEASE! And before anyone says my installation disks are faulty thats impossible. it works on other computers

debug the drive. follow the commands at the bottom of this website, then reinstall XP.

if that fails i'd bet your hard drive has bit the dust.

If i were you i would try this *always works for me* Download wipe disk (link provided below) and burn it on CD, put in CD and make sure your bios is set to boot from CD. When it loads up type in *DOD* and hit enter and walk away for a few hours (depending on your hard drive size)
