If I have an XP OEM license for my laptop and an OEM XP Service Pack 1 disk that came with that laptop. I also have a full retail version of XP sp2 that I'm using on my desktop. Can I copy the retail version to my laptop using the same OEM activation code on that laptop to activate XP sp2 from the retail disk. Or will it only activate with the OEM version on the disk - i know that the OEM version will only work with the laptop, but I'm wondering if the retail version will work with the OEM license. In other words will it detect that something is wrong? Is there really that much of a difference between OEM and retail when you've got the codes? I've got legitimate versions and codes, i'm just wondering If I do this, what will happen? I can't install my wifi software without sp2 on it, and i don't have the disk. I need to format the drive, so i'll be kind of stuck since microsoft won't let me copy it from the site on my updated desktop. I hope all of this makes sense.
