Windows XP O/S How to erase the words VIRUS ALERT next to the clock display?

My computer is running with windows xp, recently was infected with a trojan and I was able to clean it with a free software AVG, but next to my clock display shows the words VIRUS ALERT and looks like is taking over my real computer name, how do I get this off?? I did try many things but no results per example at the corner of my screen this is the display: 01:09: VIRUS ALERT do I still have a virus??

      Do a clean install.
