Recently our Windows XP computer just in my opinion killed itself. I tried to turn the computer but it went into Safe mode the usual start computer into safe mode, last configuration etc. When clicking it goes to Windows then restarts itself back into safe mode and whether we want to enter the computer in safe mode, start it normally, or last known good config.
I’ve read that we can repair it by letting the operating system drive into and restarting the computer, then hitting enter to see the license agreement. Thing is, it never pops up. We let it sit there for an hour and still nothing we tried this more than 3 times. I think the CD/DVD is not picking up on the Cd correctly. Does anyone have any good suggestions, or can help me figure this thing out?
Ok I have change the settings to the computer so that it boots from the CD/DVD drive. Then set the operating system CD into the drive, and restarted. It told me to press any key, and i did that and got the Windows XP Edition setup. I press enter and nothing happens. Should I let it sit and see what will happen or restart and do something different? Also i have tried pressing R and nothing really happens as well. What to do?

You have to set the BIOS to boot from the CD first. Depending on the BIOS version, you must hit a key (DEL, F2, F8) to enter setup mode. There you will find an option that you can edit the boot order. Make the CD/DVD the first boot option and then it should boot from the computer. Good luck

Do this
Unplug everything from the pc except the lan, the mouse, and the keyboard, especially any usb devices.
Insert the xp disk, reboot and tell it to format the hard drive and install.
it will then install the os. Once its installed, plug your devices back in and let it auto detect.
