My girlfriend thinks her neighbors might try to leech off of her wireless router. I know there's a way to set up passwords and stuff to block this, but I'm not quite sure how to do it or what the best method would be. I was just looking at my own router's settings, and saw "Wireless Security" and several options to enable it. One that I've heard of is WEP. How does WEP work? I also saw things like RADIUS, etc. But I think a WEP key is what she needs. How does she set this up? A link to a simple guide or something would be sufficient. Thanks.
What do we need to do for things like:
"Default Transit Key"
"WEP Encryption"
"Passphrase"
"Key1"
"Key2"
"Key3"
"Key4"

It's simple. Just enable the security. It will give you a pass key (code) for connecting any other computers…

Enter as an admin on 192.168.1.1 and navigate to wireless security. Select WEP and the highest level of encryption probably 128bit. Enter your pass phase/key then go to each computer and under wireless networks make sure and select WEP 128 bit for example and enter the pass phrase. If its windows you'll have to probably use the HEX version of the password.
If the router has mac address filtering enable that as well but make sure it lists the mac addresses of the computers you want to connect. You do that by doing some sort of automatic list update. That will stop computers not on the list from connecting.
