I have recently taken a tour of my Air Force Base (i have recently graduated and am looking into my options of enlisting) and have looked at jobs here and talked to people about there jobs. I was looking for something exciting and the Securtiy Forces caught my eye. i talked to a MSGT there and he said everything i wanted to hear about it. It (at times) was exciting and (this part i am a heavy believer in) there is a lot of comradreship in this field. I told him my ASVAB score and he chuckled saying with that score i can do something better than this.

I wouldn't not do security forces, I know a lot of people from SF and they are trying to cross train to another field but it is difficult once you are in it hard to get out because they always need a warm body to man gates and check id. Manning gates and details would be your prim duty since you will be the lowest ranking. Find something more challeging that will benefit your in the long run.
for example, I am in the communication field, which gives you opportunity to obtain and retain your top secret clearance. Plus, you are continually learning new technology and new ideas. Comm rules! Think about it! sleep on it! but make a decision that will make you happy.

Security forces is not MP!! It's a glorified security guard job. No offense to those that do it, but it's true. If you want action, you should look into TAC-P or Combat Control. Unless you are a woman because they are only open to men.

Do something else. I had fun as Security Forces, but it's more military than other AFSC's in the AF. 12 hour shifts, but before that even begins you have to arm up and have guard mount, so your 12 hour day is more of a 14 hour day.
You'll grow close to your flight (the group of people you work with.) You'll be closer if you get stationed overseas than stateside.
Other AFSC's are more like normal jobs, m-f, weekends and holidays off.
But SF can go anywhere. I literally flew completely around the world when I was 19. My only regret is not re-enlisting. I'd go back if I could.

If you want to do security forces.
Then it doesn't matter how high your asvab is.
Do what you want to do.
Doing a job for 4 years that you hate, because it is considered a better job,
Is a silly thing to do.

Whats high? For the most part the ASVAB is a disqualifier. A high score doesn't get you the best possible job automatically.

Cyber war, space programs. SF is the least thing that the Air force fills, so, they tried to trick you.
