      Yes, and not only would it slow down your computer, but it also would compromise your PC's security.

      You should not run two anti-virus programs with real-time protection together. They will interfere with each other for scanning and protection, and often view the other program as a threat. Don't get two anti-virus programs, there is no advantage in it.

      I advise you get Kaspersky Internet Security 2009, this has all the protection you need. You could also download SuperAntiSpyware Pro if you really want ultimate protection.
