I no longer download EVER with p2p as it's highly unsafe, not even for the individual song like I was doing when my computer last contracted viruses on my desktop… But Spyware Doctor with Anti-Virus removed everything just fine, while AVG struggled, so I'm definitely not getting that.
I download torrents with Azureus Vuze and that's about it really when it comes to potentially unsafe zones. So do you guys think Spyware Doctor 6 with Antivirus + Threatfire would be more than sufficient protection? Or do you have better ideas??
At the moment I have Ashampoo Magical Defrag 2.34 and CCleaner for keeping my PC in shape. What firewall should I consider getting? Is PC Tools Firewall Plus any good??

I use Antivir (freeware). it works fine on my lappy. few of my friends too use the same. It comes for free and almost swipes all the virus.

The best way to protect your laptop…in fact, any computer…is to delete Windows and install a system like Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD…anything other than Windows.

I, too, use Spyware Doctor and am well please with how it removes the viruses. When I first got it, I would use it once-per-week. Then I noticed that when the computer acted funny (delay when typing, blinking, etc.), I would go to Spyware Doctor and run the scan. It indicated Attention Needed, which I did. The number of infections have been increasing and I went from once/week, to three times/week, to every day and now every 5-6 hours. The total infections removed vary from 24 to 86. Since I have been received a lot of spam and scam messages, I assume that is where they are coming from. What you are using for anti-viral protection is just fine. I do have several PC Tools programs that work well.
