  XP Antivirus is a virus. We’ve had several infections on the campus where I work. Do not click anything that pops up about this. Immediately find a real anti-virus (Norton, McAffee, Trendmicro, etc) and scan your computer. If allowed to stay on your computer, this virus will destroy your data and render your computer useless pending reinstall.

  search and download spybot search and destroy - run the file downloaded and allow it to update with the latest spy ware recognition files and then run it and it should hopefully resolve your spyware problem

  XP antivirus is a virus itself. You should get rid of this virus with an effective virus remover.

  If you know when you got the virus, you can do a system restore to a time before the virus was on your system. This article tells you how to run it from safe mode http://bertk.mvps.org/html/safemode.html

  Your best protection in general is a complete internet security suite such as Bitdefender or Norton internet security 2009.

  The only effective way to block it from coming up from some damaged website that you visit is to activate parental controls in your internet security or parental control software and block the site. This will prevent you from seeing it and getting it again.
