It’s the Cadux bw trojan… everywhere seems to think it’s a low risk, but I don’t want it on my machine. Yahoo1 Anti-Spy won’t remove it… it gives me an error message “Can’t quarantine without administrator right”. That’s bullshit, I’m the only user/administrator of this computer! Please help if you can. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide.

What is considered to be a “spyware/trojan” is decided by humans. Some programs are borderline. One program maker (like Yahoo) may decide it is, while another maker (like McAfee) may not decide it is a threat. No scanner program is perfect.
Odds are that the program that needs to be quarantined or deleted is in use. It is being loaded whenever you start your computer. If a file is “in use”, you will never have the admin rights needed to delete it. Normally you can prevent the file from loading by booting your computer in Safe Mode (turn it on and repeatedly pressed the F8 key for the Safe Mode option screen). In Safe Mode, the computer only loads the minimum number of essential Windows files needed to display the desktop. Run the scan again in Safe Mode, and Yahoo should be able to clear the file.

Anti-Virus and Anti-Spy programs find different things; none can do everything.
Get malwarebytes or Spybot to do your anti-spy work for you; they are much more efficient than the Yahoo one which comes with the toolbar.

Either of these will find most spyware AND remove them without arguments.
Be careful with Spybot in Advanced mode, it can do a lot of things you need to understand. It is fine to use in normal mode. It includes “TeaTimer” which is an always-on filter to catch spy programs. Turn the Yahoo anti-spy off if you install this.
