My yahoo messenger suddenly stopped working, whenever i double clicked on the icon, nothing happens. I opened the task manager and it's not running, but when i clicked on "processes" yahoo is there. I tried uninstalling from the control panel "add or remove programs" but it just freezes. I saw from another question about uninstalling yahoo and someone referred ccleaner, i downloaded it, but yahoo wont uninstall. How can entirely remove yahoo from my computer since i tried almost everything? HELP!
i made sure yahoo wasnt running before trying to uninstall.
I have the latest version which is 9

download and install version 8.1.0.421. below. version 9.0 is full of bugs.

After doing that you may ned to install the latest version of adobe flash player below.

You might also have to update your JAVA

follow these steps:
Goto-> Start->run->type regedit in the run box
(TAKE A BACK OF UR REGISTRY 1ST AND BE EXTRA CAREFUL)
search for Yahoo
Delete evrything which you feel is related to ur messenger.
GOTO->C:->PROGRAMS->DELETE ALL THE FOLDERS RELATED TO MESSENGER.
You have now manually deleted the program.
no need to worry abt the entry inside Add/Remove programs

If you don't install the 9.0 messenger correctly, it will not work.
It has to be,,,Run as the Administrator.
I think if you Right click on the downloaded .exe after you download it, you will be able to Run as Administrator. If that is all too confusing you can,,,
Do this,,,,
Click on Start Button/ Settings/ Control Panel/ Add or Remove Programs.
DUMP anything that says Yahoo Messenger (toolbar, address book etc etc etc) they will be listed at the bottom of that window if there are any), and go to this website,,,,,

Scroll down (at the bottom of the page on the Left is Yahoo Messenger). Versions 3-8 are there to choose from. I PERSONALLY SUGGEST 7.0.

PS. No, you will NOT lose any Contacts from a previous version you ran, they are all saved on Yahoos Sever and will transfer to whatever version you install.
