No it’s not true it is spam. Do not reply to it and do not use any link in the email as this will alert the spammers that your email address is active and they will spam you even more. The best thing to do is not open it, do not reply to it and just delete it.
Spammers are getting very clever at trying to trick people nowadays so you have to be very careful and you have done the right thing coming onto answers for advice.
Unfortunately once you start getting spammed it is very hard to stop it. You might have to create a new email account (i had to do this once as i was getting up to 50 spam mails a day!!). If you do create a new account also create a disposable email address for you to give out when you are online and when it starts getting spammed you can delete it and create a new one.
