i browse the computer security section of y/ a pretty regularly and there is always a couple people asking about free anti virus or spyware programs and they always get different answers.
one guy says AVG is great the next says it is crap
one says avira the other says avast
''hey how bout trying spybot s& d,'''' ''no no use spyware doctor it's better spybot sucks.''
and on and on, how can there be so many people that say one program stinks while so many say it is great?
some love AVG some say it is junk.
some love spybot, others say it is crap.
is there a consensus at all about what is good and what isn't?
how can there be so many well informed people with exact polar opposite views of what is good and what isn't?
i have never heard much bad about avira, why would anyone pick AVG over it?
some clarification would be greatly appreciated.

Let me tell you for certain that Spybot and VGA do what they say on the tin.
I had Norton installed and still found 111 cases of spyware on my pc and 34 different viruses and the two free softwares above have eradicated them.
They are good and they are free. What do you need to know and from how many people?
